Shiro Takatani X Ryuichi Sakamoto
Animation art plus 3-D water screen to create a dream-like spectacular stage
Japanese artist Shiro Takatani, who has overwhelmed the European art circle, comes from Dumb Type, a collective art group based in Kyoto, Japan. A master in integrating visual art, performing art and audio art, Shiro Takatani is to present his 2015 work, ST/LL, for his first visit to Taiwan. This beautiful piece reflects our perception of time and space. The stage is like a mirror to exhibit the reflections of everything projected on the screen and every movement on the stage. Time and space seem to defy all dimension-bound notions and extend to the endless. Thus the moment is more infinite than future or past and the place is not just a place, either. Lighting and images intertwine with each other to showcase the mirage-like images one after another, leading us into a poetic world of stage. Japanese renowned composer and Oscar winner Ryuichi Sakamoto tailors the music for this piece. Japanese actress Mayu Tsuruta, a nominee for Awards of the Japanese Academy for Best Actress in the Supporting Role, also participates in the performance.

Shiro Takatani is the co-founder and artistic director of Dumb Type, a collective art group, whose members are trained in varied disciplines, including visual arts, architecture, music, computer programming, writing, theatre, and dance. Their work ranges across such diverse media as art exhibitions, performances, audiovisuals, and publications. Shiro Takatani has served as the visual director for LIFE, an opera produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto.
